Color Therapy Yoga Cushions
May is time for Island Batik's blog hop!!!
"The products featured in this post were given to me by Island Batik"
Lately we are spending some time indoors ;) and I believe we are all thinking a little bit more about home decor or maybe even making some home improvement projects. So, I believe that you will love May's Island Batik blog hop, because it is all about wall hangings, cushions, rugs, linens, and decorative craft projects like bowls, wreaths, lampshades and baskets...
It's also time for the reveal of my "surprise bundle", remember that mysterious package very well wrapped that came with all the goodies from my Island Batik Ambassador's box?! Yup... that one! And to be honest I had no time to open the package until last week, when I started with my blog hop project, luckily the bundle was just perfect for my inspiration!
My surprise bundle is an Island Batik's fabric collection designed for no one else than the amazing Claudia Pfeil, you should totally check out her wonderful work! "Cascadia" is a beautiful fabric collection with bold vivid colors and quilting designs that makes reference to Claudia's work, it is a color therapy! It turns out that my surprise bundle maybe can be YOUR surprise bundle, because it is also the fabric collection from the blog hop giveaway!

After 10 winters (or more) in Switzerland I realized how important colors are during the months with less light, because colors bring light to your soul, colors can improve your mood and also can change the entire atmosphere of your house. Here, at my home we love floor cushions and pillows, so I decided to make some yoga pillows that will be very useful during this isolation time!
Since last year I'm saving a very cool project pattern from Pat Bravo for the Bernina USA blog we all sew, the Summer Floral Floor Cushion tutorial is also perfect for yoga pillows and to show case all the prints from Cascadia collection! My first step was to open the bundle and then I decided to divide into a warm palette and a cool palette.
It's a really fun pattern and even your young assistants can help ;) A special shout out to Michael's Stores and their same day curbside pickup, because I didn't have poly-fil enough and of course just noticed at the very last minute.
I know, the girl has talent!
I used Hobbs Heirloom® Premium 80/20 Cotton/Poly Blend, and I sew the pieces together for the 2 long stripes for the side of the cushions. For piecing and quilting, Aurifil 50wt colors 2545 for the warm palette and 2810 for the cool palette. Schmetz Microtex sharp needles size 70/10 with my Bernina 790 to quilt 1" straight lines apart with the dualfeed.
Beautiful quilting also with a domestic sewing machine ;)
And in 3 hours I had the first pillow! And the second was even quicker!
